Olivet Preston

Olivet Preston is the chief advisor for his lordship Baron Jericho Rothlow of Canfield. He has been commissioned by his lord to hire a party of problem solvers to undertake an assignment to find and return the Baron's daughters, Belladonna and Oleander, the one 18-years-old and the other 19.

He offers you each a 1-month retainer of 100 gold pieces to search for the girls. Upon their safe return he will pay you each an additional 300 gold pieces. If any of you should die during this assignment, he will pay to have you raised.

He knows the following:

• The assassins involved in the poisonings and kidnappings must have been exceptionally competent considering the level of security.

• The Baron just recently moved to a new hidden location that Olivet will absolutely not divulge.

• Many more nobles were poisoned than the public knows about—at least 20 that Olivet has heard of, including the Duke himself.

• No one has heard of the Red Empress before or has any inkling as to her identity or whereabouts.

• The Baron has contracted with two other adventuring parties—Blackman’s Crew and the Gilded Girls (both detailed in the Laughing Goblin description above)—to locate and rescue his daughters.

The Poisoning of the Baron:
My Lord the Baron is an unfortunate victim of this murder most foul. He was approached a year ago by a charmed messenger who shared the demands of a psychopath who calls herself the Red Empress. Bend the knee and pay an extortion or perish. My lordship would never betray his allegiance to King Keslin, and he refused, of course. Two days later, he was poisoned and died. He was subsequently raised from the dead—all praise to mighty [Zeus] —and reported this affront to the King himself. Six months later, my lordship was approached again with the same demands and the same result. Outraged at being killed twice in one year, the Baron was forced into hiding with his family outside the city Somehow the Red Empress learned of his whereabouts and dispatched a third messenger. This time, when the demand was rebuffed, the baron’s two teenage daughters were kidnaped.
