This 65-year-old former thief has dark brown skin, a doublet that has been patched so many times you can’t tell the original color, and iron hooks for hands. He is still well-connected to the criminal underworld, which he is willing to discuss at length—as long as the free drinks (or gold coins) keep coming. He speaks with raspy voice and always sounds like he is whispering conspiratorially, regardless of the topic.
Thing he MAY have said:
“What happened to my hands? What are you talkin’ about? I was born with these hooks! Me mum still rues the day! Haha.” (He lost the right one 20 years ago in Dorias when he was caught borrowing a pair of horses from a merchant-lord. He lost the left one 8 years ago in Scarwick when he was caught with a gold holy symbol taken from the Cathedral of Zeus. Both instances were clearly just unfortunate misunderstandings.)
"Cassius S? The only Cassius I know is a dwarf by the name of Cassius Skulldigger. Friends,
I suggest you forget you ever heard that name and enjoy the rest of your lives…made longer by heeding my words and finding something else to do with your time. Or, if livin’ is too good for you then you can try to collect the 500-gold piece bounty the Duke put on the head of Cassius for all the murderin’ and mayhem that fiend has perpetrated upon this fair city. Tryin’ to collect that reward was beyond the reach of the three best bounty hunters in all of Greywall. Each went looking for Cassius, and each one showed up the next day in the city square. If ya’ll have a
strong stomach, I’ll tell you just what he did to those poor souls. Skinned ‘em alive, then boiled
all the flesh off their bones, had the skeletons animated, then sewed the skin back on. The next morning each skeleton would show up in the square, wearing nothin’ but their skin and a jester’s hat, cavorting around and magic mouthed to shout…well…I can’t even say it. Upsetting things.
I tell you; it took three times for that to happen before everyone lost interest and decided it would be safer to go hunt dragons or the like. You might still die but at least you wouldn’t get humiliated afterward, savvy?”
